#New at #TheWriteStuff

sharing

I promised you guys some new ideas would becoming this month, and I’m finally ready to roll out a couple of them. Hope you’ll find them fun, and will participate wherever you can, especially by sharing with the Immediate World. 🙂

First, I’d like to bring back our #TWSWritingPrompt. I will try to post a prompt on the first (or very close to it) of each month, and you have the entire month to contribute something fun. It can be interpreted in any way you like, in any genre you enjoy. The point is just to have a fun writing exercise each month, with no restrictions on length or subject matter (other than the ones that always apply on this site–no religion or politics). As soon as I finish with this post, I’m going to put up the prompt for January, even though we’ve lost the first 11 days. I think most of you can still write a paragraph or two, if you’d like to participate, and I hope you will.

Secondly, it’s time to get going again with our #FabulousFridayGuestBlogger feature, so you folks who would like to be spotlighted this week, email me please at mmeara@cfl.rr.com and let me know. I’ll fill you in on the details. If this week’s spot is taken by the time I hear from you, we’ll pick another Friday. So give a holler! We’ll ask everyone to share your guest post, including your  Buy Links, Bio, and Cover photos.

Third, I’m planning to start a new feature next week called #MondayMeme. Just what it sounds like. Memes, humorous or not, but mostly book, writing, or reading related. Just to get your week off to a good start.

#WodinsDaySmile is moving to Thor’s Day. Why? Because I like Thor better than Wodin. 😀 So starting in two days, keep an eye out for #ThorsDaySmile. This doesn’t mean you can’t share jokes, cartoons, memes or other fun things on other days. Just that I’ll be sharing one for sure on Thor’s Day.

On the other hand, Wednesday will now become My #MidWeekPOV. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and it will be my chance to chat about things on my mind. Most will be book or reading related, though I can’t guarantee that all will. Hope you’ll enjoy my ramblings and will share them, as well.

I haven’t made up my mind about the remaining days of the week, yet. I thought maybe I’d try these things out, and see if I had the energy to throw in any more or not. 😉 And of course, we will continue to schedule regular #ExcerptWeek events, and anything else fun that comes to my mind.

Recapping:

(Weekly)

Monday: #MondayMeme
Wednesday: My #MidWeekPOV
Thursday: #ThorsDaySmile
Friday: #FabulousFridayGuestBlogger

(Monthly)
#TWSWritingPrompt

(Whenever)
#ExcerptWeek

So there you have at least the start of some new things. I hope you’ll enjoy taking part when you can, and sharing with others. Now stay tuned for this month’s writing prompt. And happy Moon’s Day night. Hope all is well in your part of the world.

    • Thanks, Viv! Sorry for the delay. WordPress doesn’t notify me of pending comments anymore, and I just saw this. Thanks for the encouragement. Hope you’ll take part. 🙂 Thanks for the reblog, too.

    • Thanks, Deb! Hope I haven’t just given myself more than I can handle. 😯 But I think it’ll be fun. And I haven’t forgotten your excerpt. Things at the dentist took way longer than they should have, and I came home a very stressed out camper. (Can we say Dental Phobia, Boys and Girls?) I will definitely get it up for you tomorrow, I promise!) Thanks for understanding!

      • Arg Marcia, it’s always something with you. Hope it wasn’t too painful. 🙂 And please don’t worry about the excerpt, if it makes it fine, if not, another time. You have enough on your plate! And you are going to be even busier it seems for adding all these challenges, lol. ❤

        • It was all fine, Deb. Just took too long, because they were fitting me in, and left me shaky, because . . . hello. Dentist! And I was late getting home. Blecch.

I don’t think I’m going to be busier with these new things. I think it’s going to be easier. Instead of coming out here in a panic because I have nothing to post that day, I’ve got a VERY easy schedule. Pop up a meme or cartoon on Mondays & Thursdays, and post a guest blogger’s writings on Friday. The only day I’m COMMITED to writing anything for is Wednesday, and it doesn’t have to be long. Could be sometimes just a one sentence observation representing my point of view on something. That’s easier by far than what I’ve been trying to do. Of course, I’ll still comment on and share everything everyone else posts, but I do that anyway. I’m looking forward to trying this out. 😀

    • Not enough hours in the day, Let’s. (You don’t mind if I call you by your first name, do you?) 😀 But I wanted to have a few special things to “spruce” up the place for the new year. This blog has surpassed my every dream, and I’d like to keep it fresh and fun, as well as helpful and useful. Please do look in when you get the chance. You never know what might be happening. 🙂

      • Fresh is good, if not fantastic. I’m cutting back some more this year as I’m changing up my schedule. Too much to get done this year but I do keep coming back when I can because I do enjoy reading all the wonderful posts on your blog and many others. 🙂

    • Thank you, Carmen. This blog means a lot to me, and while I’m really busy every minute of the day, I want to do what I can to keep the interest level up, and the fun happening. At least, I’m going to try! My other blog, Bookin’ It, is the one that might fall by the wayside. I will have to make some hard choices soon, I’m afraid.

    • I’ve been moving much more slowly on Book 5 than on any of my others, and I decided it was because I didn’t have a good time management plan. Consequently, I haven’t been doing my best at either writing or taking care of this blog. Maybe having some set structure will help me be better at both. That’s my plan, anyway. Wish me luck. Crashing and burning is an ever-present risk! 🙂 However, you will notice that only Wednesday’s #MidWeekPOV involves any actual writing on my part. And I have a collection of Memes and cartoons that would astonish you. So, it might not be as daunting as it looks! Hope you’ll enjoy it, though.

    • Thanks, Linda. It’s actually less than I’ve been TRYING to do. Posting memes/cartoons only takes a few minutes, so that covers Monday and Thor’s Day. Friday is reserved for guest bloggers, who will be doing the writing, and I just have to upload for some of them. So the only day I’m obligated to write something is Wednesday. That means I can stop worrying so much about whether I have anything to add the other days, and encourage more folks in the group to post. Not that I’ll never post more often, but I’ve set something reasonable, I think, and by finding something fun to contribute two of the days, I honestly think it will free me up a bit.

My biggest disappointment is that I might have to let Bookin’ It go. I haven’t posted a review there in ages, and just barely have time to READ any more, much less review. I’m thinking I might set up a separate page in the menu above for my reviews, for those who are interested, and stop letting Bookin’ It wither away like it has been. I really loved doing regular reviews, but time is just so short right now, it’s not feasible. And you can’t review what you haven’t read. 😦

At any rate, there will be a couple of fun things, and a POV post mid-week, and guest bloggers on Friday. And every day is open to everyone else who wants to post news, promos, etc, either on their own, or by asking me. In fact, I have two excerpts I’m going to try to post later today that just missed excerpt week. So stay tuned!

Thanks for all your support, Linda. You are a great member of this blog, and a wonderful contributor, and you are much appreciated! 🙂

    • As I’ve mentioned above, this is actually LESS than I’ve been trying to do. Of course, I haven’t been doing a great job of what I’ve been TRYING to do, either. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do this, and offer my normal comments & shares on what others post. That’s my plan, anyway. We’ll see how it works out. Thanks for reading.
