I have a whole Pinterest board devoted to stuff like this, plus several with bookish quotes, too. 🙂 I’m addicted to shopping for bookends, but do you know, I checked once at Books A Million to see if they had any, and when I asked the clerk if they carried bookends, he stared at me blankly. Finally, he said. “What are bookends?” REALLY????? And this guy works at a BOOKSTORE???

Absolutely. That’s why one of my boards on Pinterest is filled with things like this. Bookends, Book Nooks, Book furniture. Mine mostly are, too. I use BOOKS as bookends, laying a stack of them on their sides to hold up the others. But I do have a couple of nice bookends, scattered here and there. I have several rooms with ceiling high shelves, and my library/office has floor to ceiling shelves on every wall, so I do have more shelf space than many. Plus, now that I discovered how much more fun reading on Kindle is, I only buy print versions of books where I’m collecting an entire set, or the ones where the cover art is irresistible. I still BUY them, mind you. Just not in the same number as I used to.
I don’t have a single room (except bathrooms) that doesn’t have a bookshelf, and as I say, ceiling high ones are the norm. 🙂

Yes, inventive is the perfect word for the unique shelves. I too have book shelves on every wall, close to 3000 books and too many on iPad Kindle. I volunteer at a charity used books store and try to come home empty-handed. 😮

I probably wouldn’t even bother to TRY to come home without books! Or I’d set up sleeping quarters in a back room, and just live there amid them! 😀 I applaud your volunteer work, too. I used to do volunteer work long ago, at the Central Florida Zoo, where I was a docent who worked with snakes, and as a full-time volunteer for Florida Audubon. But then I had to trade for a paying job for a while. Now, I write all day, every day, and have no other life, volunteer or otherwise. 😀 And I love it most of all!

I’m very fond of reptiles, especially albino and leucistic ones. But never fear. I also love pretty much all wildlife, except for sharks and hairy-legged spiders. (I was obviously either a sea lion or a fly in a past life.) 🙂 Snakes are very, very interesting, once you learn a bit about them. I don’t keep any as pets, though. My first husband was terrified of them. 😀 And we have too many cats for any snake to be safe in our house now.

My favourites are the library reading nook and the book shop sign. The open book chair is amazing but it doesn’t look comfortable.

No, it doesn’t really, but it’s fun. LOVE that sign, but I confess my favorite would be the octopus. I just love the curving shapes. 🙂 I have hundreds of these, which may be making appearance over the next few days. Be forewarned. 😀

CTC: We have four cats (currently, though that number has been larger in the past) and two dachshunds. WAY too many animals at this stage of our lives. I love them dearly, but as they shuffle off this mortal coil to that great lizard hunting ground in the sky, some of them won’t be replaced. I’m thinking we need to be a two-cat, zero-dog family now. To lessen work and expenses, and to make it easier to travel. But for now, they are well-loved and cared for.
